ON THE ROAD
At the first of the year, Central Illionios Sheltie Rescue took in thirteen Shelties from a puppy mill. They put a message out asking for help. We reached out letting them know we wanted to help in any way we could. We had volunteers, husband & wife, who had a free weekend (January 6-8) to jumped right in to help! MSR flew them from Boston to Chicago, where they picked a SUV and drove to central Illionios, stayed over, then they were ready the next morning to pick up five Shelties, then hit the road back to Maine.
Their first stop was Pennsylvania where Michael Lamont, from Hearts Promise Sheltie Rescue, had a safe place, fenced in area for the dogs to get out of the crates for a while. We were grateful for that opportunity! The next stop was Schenectady, New York, where they met a volunteer from Long Island Sheltie Rescue, who had two foster homes available, so took two of the girls back with them. Onward to Maine! Our volunteers made it back in Maine at 8 am Sunday, January 8th!
These three dogs were settled in their foster homes. They were groomed and vetted and socialized with other Shelties. Below are pictures of them in their new environment. We had lots of inquiries about their future forever homes. Charlie and Kai have found their forever homes. Brody is still being fostered.
If you want to make a donation to help defray the costs of their transportation east, medical and grooming expences, we would be most grateful. DONATE HERE
