Meet Andy (Andromeda)!

Andy is a beautiful 2-year-old sable Sheltie weighing approximately 13 pounds with a personality that’s every bit as big as her heart. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who wants to be by your side through every part of your day, Andy may be your perfect match.

Andy absolutely adores people. She’s happiest curled up in a lap, following her person from room to room, or joining them for a car ride. She’s a true Velcro dog who forms strong bonds with her family and loves being included in everything they do. If she can’t find her people, she’ll let out an adorable Sheltie howl until she discovers they’re still nearby.

While treats don’t impress her much, squeaky toys certainly do! Tiny squeaky balls are her absolute favorite, and a quick squeak is all it takes to win her over. She loves to play and has an enthusiastic, energetic style that’s sure to make you smile.

Andy is housebroken and walks nicely on a leash, although she can get excited and pull at times. She’s learning basic obedience and has been making steady progress with positive reinforcement and play-based training.

Like many young Shelties, Andy enjoys barking and takes her neighborhood watch duties seriously. She also has a strong herding instinct and loves to be involved in whatever is happening around her. In the yard she’ll sometimes bark at passing cars, but interestingly she does not show the same behavior while out on walks.

Andy came to rescue after her previous family reported resource guarding. We have not found that to be an issue in her foster home. She now comfortably eats alongside other dogs, takes treats politely in a group, and has even shared her food bowl with another dog. However, we’ve learned that her play style is quite rough and intense. Because of this, we believe Andy would be happiest as an only dog or with a single older, confident, and very tolerant canine companion who doesn’t mind her exuberance.

Andy has not been evaluated with cats or young children, so we cannot say how she would do with them.

Health-wise, Andy is spayed, current on all vaccinations, and in good overall health. She does have a congenital jaw deformity that affects the alignment of her teeth, but it does not affect her quality of life. She simply does best with softened kibble and doesn’t have much interest in chewing hard toys or bones.

Andy is looking for a family that understands the Sheltie breed and appreciates an affectionate, intelligent, vocal little shadow who wants to be part of every adventure. With patience, consistency, and plenty of squeaky toys, Andy will reward her family with unwavering devotion and endless companionship.

Pepper wants to Snuggle with you,,,

Pepper, an 8-year-old Sheltie/Pomeranian mix, is a sweet, happy girl who loves rolling on her back, waving her paws in the air! She was surrendered to Maine Sheltie Rescue as she had been attacked several times, different times, by big dogs in and near her home.

Pepper is very loving and snuggly! She wants and deserves her own person(s) to keep her safe and loved.

Pepper walks well on leash and enjoys occasional treats.

She is crate trained and willingly goes into her crate at night.

A fenced in yard is a must so Pepper can run around, sniffing and rolling in the grass, while staying safe.

Tommy needs a new home!

Tommy is an eight-year-old Tri Sheltie. Tommy joined us after his previous owners were involved in a tragic accident. He previously lived with various dogs, cats, and farm animals. While initially reserved in his foster home, he has since warmed up and shown his true Sheltie spirit.

Tommy is highly intelligent and quickly learned the household routine by following the other Shelties in his foster home. For this reason, we believe it is important that he has a canine companion in his forever home. He is also very cat friendly.

Currently, Tommy weighs 46 pounds. He is quite solid and very heavy to pick up, so his foster family is dedicated to helping him lose weight. It is vital that his new family continues this weight loss journey. As he was likely sedentary in his previous home, staying active will be key to his future health.

Tommy is very gentle and sweet. While he walks beautifully on a leash without pulling, he prefers short walks and will not potty while leashed. Therefore, a fenced yard is important so he can roam and explore safely.
