In mid-December, Ocho came to Maine Sheltie Rescue from a Sheltie breeder who needed a helping hand. Ocho has been vetted, neutered and is up to date on his vaccines. Now he is looking for his Furever Home!
At a year and half, Ocho is a very sweet boy who loves attention and wants to be with his people. He follows his foster family around the house and loves resting by their feet. He loves to nuzzle in close for a scratch behind his ears. At 23 lbs., he is just a bit underweight for his long-legged size. He sure loves doing zoomies! A fenced yard is a must!
Ocho also is learning to walk on a leash. He gets very excited while outside, so patience is needed as he sniffs out his surroundings. Ocho does like to watch the birds and squirrels. He is curious about cats: sniffs them and sometimes tries to play with them. He occasionally barks at them, but does not chase them.
Ocho needs a dog-knowledgeable family. He responds to basic command commands and comes when you call his name. He loves chewing on toys and other things. Though he generally likes other dogs, Ocho will make a great buddy for his human. His foster Mom feels that he would do well with a young family as he has a lot of energy and does want to play. He is smart and a quick learner!
We often have a waiting list for our Shelties.
If you are interested in adopting, it is best to apply even if we do not presently have a Sheltie listed or one listed that fits your family situation. We will then contact you when we have a Sheltie that we feel might be a good fit.
